House Kurita

House Kurita is a Vaelune family, much like their allies in House Kimura, that is centered around tradition. Though unlike House Kimura, House Kurita is not a full-fledged noble house. The family instead has lingered on the edges of prominence since the days of Old Verra.

Back then, and till the present day, House Kurita has made much of its reputation as shipwrights and sailors. Piloting the Kraken, a great ship known for weathering even the harshest of tides. After the fall, House Kurita had to rebuild its arsenal, and looked to their old friend House Kimura for aid.

House Kurita and Kimura share a close lineage as Vaelune families, having shared blood between their families for generations. So seeking aid from their allies seemed to be an easy request. However, where House Kurita would struggle to rebuild, House Kimura attained great wealth in half the time.

This inequity between them did impact their relationship. And there seemed to be less motivation to bound their houses further together. Though in the last decade House Kimura began to struggle, while House Kurita stabilized.

Matan Kurita had offered his son and heir, Rasheed to wed the daughter of House Kimura shortly before the Lord Kimura’s death. The offer was allegedly declined, and did not go unnoticed.

In the present Rasheed is now betrothed to Jamilla Mustapha, heiress of House Mustapha, and a rival of House Kimura. With tension rising between these two Vaelune families, one can only hope for sober minds to prevail.

House Focus

House Kurita is a Vaelune family that culturally blends with other Vaelune families. Although half-siblings, cousins, and bastards are a possibility. House Kurita is a prominent maritime household, employing sailors, shipwrights, and even biologists who study the sea and all its mysteries. Family members are known for their love for the sea, and generally have a brash & uncouth disposition.

Status & Wealth

House Kurita is family of moderate wealth and status. However, while Houses like Kimura and Greythorne are on the rise, House Kurita has remained stagnant. The reason for this is uncertain, though connections through business and failed marriage arrangements have made prospects for this once well established Valeune household slim. The recent betrothal of their son and heir may have been a bright spot, had his betrothed not have previously been promised to Sergio Kimura. Their current liege is Master Rasheed Kurita. His father Matan, was seriously injured in an accident upon one of his ships, and since then has abdicated family leadership to his only son. Rasheed is betrothed to the Lady Jamilla of House Mustapha.
